Radio, podcast, progetti sonori

Negli ultimi vent’anni, ho creato, prodotto e condotto (o collaborato a) diversi progetti radiofonici. Il mio momento fondativo è stato Radioactivity, a inizio anni 2000: una trasmissione musicale e culturale settimanale sulle frequenze di Radio Logica International (emittente che non esiste più).

Dopo altre brevi esperienze tra radio locali e web radio, nel 2014, già in Francia, ho creato il progetto sperimentale Quelli che partono, quelli che restano: voci di italiani (pdf), per aprire un dialogo tra alcuni italiani emigrati e altri che vivono in Italia lasciando parlare le loro voci. La sperimentazione con una quarantina di partecipanti (non tutti attivi) è durata circa due mesi. Nonostante i riscontri molto positivi, non sono riuscito a trovare un produttore che sostenesse il progetto.

Il nostro viaggio ha però rinnovato la voglia di fare radio: con alcuni dei suoni registrati durante la nostra cicloavventura ho creato tre podcast che la raccontano attraverso rumori, musiche, voci.

Durante i primi confinamenti della primavera del 2020 ho dato vita al progetto 20 Hertz, un podcast e una comunità acustica. Quell’esperienza si è conclusa, ma l’idea alla base di 20 Hertz rimane in testa ed è probabile che la porterò avanti in futuro lungo nuovi percorsi.

Grazie a 20 Hertz sono entrato in contatto con Radio Mir, una radio online fatta da italiani sparpagliati in giro per il mondo: tra ottobre 2021 e giugno 2022 sono stato in onda sulle sue frequenze digitali con “Ma come parli?”, un viaggio per raccontare come cambia la nostra lingua madre quando nella nostra vita quotidiana ci troviamo in un altro paese e in un’altra lingua.

Musica

La musica è stata parte fondamentale della mia vita per molti anni, come batterista e autore di testi, anche se è sempre rimasta a livello amatoriale. Durante il lavoro sulla mia tesi di dottorato, ho comprato una batteria elettronica (Arturia DrumBrute Impact) e, lentamente, ho ricominciato a manipolare ritmi e suoni.

A gennaio 2025 ho pubblicato il mio primo album, “la matière même du temps“, sotto il nom de plume ẓavajêr. Il lavoro su questo progetto concettuale, a metà strada tra sound art, elettronica e musique concrète, mi ha portato a collaborare con il musicista e produttore Simone Silvestroni (Minutes to Midnight), il cui lavoro è stato fondamentale per arrivare alla pubblicazione dell’album. In cantiere abbiamo nuove idee e progetti, a cui lavoriamo senza fretta.

Radio, podcasts, sound projects

In the last twenty years, I created, produced and hosted (or contributed to) a few radio projects. My founding moment was Radioactivity, at the beginning of the 2000: a weekly music and cultural show on air at Radio Logica International (a station that no longer exists).

After some experiences in local and web radios, in 2014, when I was already living in France, I created the experimental project Quelli che partono, quelli che restano: voci di italiani (“Those who leave, those who stay: voices of Italians”, pdf IT), to open an exchange between some Italians who left their country and others who still lived in Italy, through their voices. The testing phase, with about 40 participants (not all were active, though) lasted a couple of months. Despite many positive feedbacks, I wasn’t able to find a producer who could support and develop the project.

My desire to work on new radio projects was put back on track by our trip. With some of the sounds recorded during our bike adventure I created three podcasts that recount it through voices, musics, noises.

During the first wave of the pandemic I gave birth to the project 20 Hertz [IT], an acoustic community and a podcast. This experience put me in contact with Radio Mir, a web radio made by Italian expats: from october 2021 to june 2022 I have produced and hosted “Ma come parli?” a show that travels around the globe to see how our mother tongue changes when it mixes up with the language of the country we are linving in.

Music

Music has been a core part of my life for many years, as a drummer and lyrics author, even if it remained at an amateur level.

While working on my PhD dissertation, I bought a drum machine (Arturia DrumBrute Impact) and slowly started manipulating rhythms and sounds again.

In january 2025, I released my first album, ‘la matière même du temps’, under the nom de plume ẓavajêr. Working on this conceptual project, halfway between sound art, electronic music and musique concrète, led me to collaborate with musician and producer Simone Silvestroni (Minutes to Midnight), whose work was fundamental in getting the album released. We have new ideas and projects in the pipeline, which we are working on without rushing.
